I am a stage director and director–designer working in opera and music theatre. My work is focused on placing classical works in direct conversation with contemporary social and political realities, examining how power, desire, obsession, and inequality continue to operate today. I am interested in resisting nostalgic or romanticized readings of the repertoire, while fully respecting the integrity of the work.
My staging language is contemporary and visually driven, with a strong cinematic influence. I work with clear, precise images and an emphasis on emotional truth, aiming for performances that feel direct, intimate, and grounded. I move comfortably between drama and comedy, and I am drawn to clarity, rhythm, and understatement as tools to create work that can hold both intensity and lightness.
Rather than updating works superficially, I look for equivalent relationships between the world of the opera and the world of the audience now — asking what these stories do to us today, and what kinds of behaviour they normalize or challenge. A central part of my practice is not only recontextualizing the works themselves, but also reactivating the impact they originally had on their audiences.
I see artistic work as something that emerges from encounters — with people, places, texts, and institutions. Many of my projects are shaped by long-term collaborations, and by the communities that form during rehearsals and performances, then disperse and re-form again elsewhere. This website is primarily a space to share my work, but it also reflects that ongoing network of artists and experiences.
Alongside my work as a director, I have collaborated extensively with major European institutions including Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, and the Royal Ballet & Opera, contributing to new productions, revivals, and large-scale repertoire. I am currently developing new projects as a director and director–designer, and I welcome dialogue and collaboration with festivals, municipal theatres, and independent institutions.
