Enrico Iori

A renowned bass, a specialist of Verdi leading bass roles, he performed in some of the world’s most important opera houses and concert halls including Teatro alla Scala, New York Metropolitan Opera,  Washington Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Filarmonico and Arena di Verona, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Opéra de Montpellier, Teatro Saõ Carlos in Lisbon, Festival de Avenches and Bolshoj Theatre in Moscow.
He worked with such important conductors as Bruno Bartoletti, Bruno Campanella, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Georges Prêtre, Renato Palumbo, Donato Renzetti, Carlo Rizzi, Jeffrey Tate, and such directors as Daniele Abbado, Liliana Cavani, Denis Krief, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Lamberto Puggelli, Luca Ronconi, Emilio Sagi, Franco Zeffirelli.
His repertory includes such roles as Oroveso Norma, Giorgio I Puritani, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Basilio Il barbiere di Siviglia, Alfonso Lucrezia Borgia, Colline La bohèmeTimur Turandot, Oberto Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio, Zaccaria Nabucco, Silva Ernani, Attila Attila, Banco Macbeth, Walter Luisa Miller, Sparafucile Rigoletto, Fiesco Simon BoccanegraPadre Guardiano La forza del destino, Filippo II Don Carlo, Re Aida.
He recorded several titles, such as Aida (Zeffirelli’s production in Busseto), Aroldo (Pier Luigi Pizzi’s production), Lucia di Lammermoor and Lucrezia Borgia (from Festival Donizetti di Bergamo), Macbeth (dvd; live from Teatro Regio di Parma).
He opened the 2015/16 season playing Zaccaria Nabucco at Liceu de Barcelona, followed by Messa da Requiem di Verdi with the Orchestra Sinfonica Verdi of Milan, and coming back to the Metropolitan Opera New York as cover of Sparafucile Rigoletto, and playing Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor nei Teatri di Modena, Piacenza e Reggio Emilia,
Among his next commitments are Sparafucile  Rigoletto al Liceu de Barcelona, cover of Fiesco Simon Boccanegra at the New York Metropolitan Opera and Zaccaria Nabucco all’Opéra de Liège.
He opened the 2013/14 season performing Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor at Festival de La Coruna, followed by Padre Guardiano La forza del destino at Washington Opera, Oroveso Norma at Opéra de Lyon, Messa da Requiem by Verdi at Teatro Verdi di Triste e a Valenica, Ferrando Il trovatore at Teatro Municipal de Sao Paulo, Attila at Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Lodovico Otello at Festival d'Orange. During 2012/13 season he made two much awaited debuts: at Teatro alla Scala debut performing the title role of Verdi’s Attila and at New York Metropolitan Opera as Sparafucile in Rigoletto.
Recent engagements have also included Filippo II Don Carlo  at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Marchese di Caltrava La forza del destino and Aida at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton Zubin Mehta, Raimondo Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, La Gioconda at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma,  Federico Barbarossa La battaglia di Legnano at Teatro Verdi di Trieste and Oroveso Norma at Teatro Regio di Torino.
