Mikeldi Atxalandabaso

The Spanish international Tenor Mikeldi Atxalandabaso achieved a huge success with his debut as Mime in Das Rheingold in the production of Robert Carsen at Teatro Real. 
Previous highlights include his Spoletta Tosca in a new production with Christian Thielemann at the Salzburger Osterfestspiele, Goro Madama Butterfly in concert at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Remendado Carmen at the Teatro Real, Edmondo Manon Lescaut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Pong in Turandot at Teatro Regio di Torino, as well as Narraboth in Salome and Jaquino Fidelio t the Bilbao Opera. 
After studying singing in his native Bilbao, Mikeldi made his international debut in 2013 as Ruodi in Guillaume Tell at the Dutch National Opera, a role he has repeated in both the French and Italian versions in many international venues, including the Monte-Carlo Opera House, Teatro Regio Torino, Opéra de Monte Carlo, in concert at the Edinburgh International Festival, Carnegie Hall, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées or in La Coruña. 
Other international contracts followed with Beppe in I Pagliacci and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Théâtre Capitole de Toulouse, Beppe I Pagliacci at the Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile, Maese Pedro in Manuel de Falla’s Master Peter's Puppet Show at La Monnaie, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte in Barrie Kosky’s production, Barbarigo in Verdi’s I due Foscari, Sir Bruno Robertson in I Puritani; Bois-Rosé Les Huguenots and Tybalt Roméo et Juliette at Teatro Real de Madrid, Triquet Eugene Onegin, Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos and Bardolfo Falstaff at the Bilbao Opera or Goro Madama Butterfly at the Maestranza de Sevilla, Adrián in Usandizaga’s La llama on tour with the Basque Symphony Orchestra, Tony West Side Story and the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra on Manuel de Falla’s La Atlántida with the Spanish National Orchestra. 
Mikeldi works with conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Gianandrea Noseda, Daniele Rustioni, Daniel Harding, Erik Nielsen, Vasily Petrenko or opera directors like Laurent Pelly, Robert Carsen, Calixto Bieito or Stefano Poda. 
Recently he appeared as Dr. Cajus Falstaff with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Steuermann Der Fliegender Holländer at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Jonas Le Prophète at the Théâtre Capitole de Toulose, Rustighello Lucrezia Borgia in Bilbao and Bruckner’s Te Deum with Erik Nielsen and the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. 
Next engagements include Beppe I Pagliacci at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bardolfo Falstaff at La Monnaie, Spoletta Tosca with Mto. Thielemann at the Salzburger Festspiele and again at the Bilbao Opera ABAO, Triquet Eugene Onegin and Pong Turandot at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and Monostatos at the Teatro Real and Jaquino Fidelio at the Opera Oviedo.
